How to Make a Day Bed Into a Couch

In the guest room, do you have a daybed or trundle bed?

turning a day bed into a couch

Perhaps you'd like to use the room as a place to entertain guests! Everything looks better when the bed is made to look like a couch.

The real question is, how can you transform a daybed into a couch?

STEP 1: The first step in making a day bed resembling a couch is strategically placing it!

The position of your daybed has a significant impact on the visual appeal of your space.

Make sure it doesn't take up a regular bed area for a couch-like appearance. Where would you put a futon bed if you had one? Try to keep your trundle bed in the same place as your daybed. Because you'll need to remove the trundle bed, consider how much room you'll need around your daybed.

To choose the best location for your artwork, move it around your room and see how it looks. You may also use side tables to enhance the design and feel of your room by placing them next to your bed. Wall-mounted lamps can improve the aesthetics of your space if you decide to use them.

You don't want to put the daybed in a room with many frames on the back wall because it will obscure them.

STEP 2: Use a fitted sheet and skirt to conceal the day bed mattress.

Make sure the mattress is covered with a plain-colored bed sheet. The trundle bed can be moved into and out without catching or trapping a fitted sheet that does not droop over the mattress.

Ensure that the sheet isn't crumpled, so the mattress isn't visible when it is hidden. You can use a printed sheet, but make sure the color is darker.

Bed skirts for daybeds can be challenging to locate on occasion, however. Set the bed skirt in its proper place once you've found the one you like. Make sure the slits are in place, and the bed skirt is hanging by its measurements.

STEP 3: Add pillows and cushions to your daybed to make it more comfortable and less imposing.

Because a twin mattress is 38 inches wide by 75 inches long, a standard daybed is 38 inches wide by 75 inches long. A typical couch is about three to four inches shorter than that.

For a more sofa-like appearance, you can stack cushions and throws on top of the daybed. Set the main pillow in the corner first. Each side should have two sets of different colored pillows. There should be an armrest-mounted throw in addition to the center one.

Finally, to add a little asymmetry and elegance, place a cushion on one side of the bed with a distinctive form. A simple rectangle shape should suffice. You don't have to if you don't want a heart-shaped cushion. A couch's aesthetic can be significantly influenced by its cushions.

Add a stuffed animal or anything else that suits your fancy to your couch to make it feel more like home. A tiny textured pillow can bring a smile to your face. A bolster pillow may be of assistance as well. Bolster pillows are a terrific way to increase the comfort level of a daybed's depth. The quantity of cushions you should use is entirely up to you.

STEP 4: Add an end table to disguise the trundle bed and make it appear more like a couch.

A modest end table placed at one end of your daybed with a trundle will complete the couch look. Add a decorative resin tray to the end table for added flair. It's also an option to place a tiny potted plant on top of it.

In the guest room, do you have a daybed or trundle bed? Perhaps you'd like to use the room as a place to entertain guests. Everything looks better when the bed is made to look like a couch. The real question is, how can you transform a daybed into a couch?

IDEA 1: Pillows that are bigger than your head

Pillows that are overly large take up room and can give the impression that the bed is smaller than it is, therefore obscuring its proper depth. When you lean on them, you'll be pushed forwards as well. A bed without a built-in backrest can benefit from adding a large pillow as a backrest. You'll be able to recline on the bed more comfortably.

IDEA 2: Throw blankets on the floor

On any piece of furniture, a throw blanket can be employed. Throw blankets are a common sight on couches, as well. As a result, you see the daybed as a couch because of this mentality.

You can instantly transform a room into a pleasant haven with a few throw blankets. You or your guest may like to curl up with a book. Instead of utilizing the comforter on your bed, drape a blanket over your shoulders. To unwind and sleep, this is an excellent option. The throw blanket should match the rest of the room's decor.

IDEA 3: Table for two

Adding a coffee table to a room can help bring in the feel of a living room, but it can also be simply pushed aside when the bed is being used to sleep in, and you need the area uncluttered. The coffee table can double as a piece of decor in a guest room and a place for books and periodicals. Put a nice rug under it to make it seem more like home.

IDEA 4: Tables on the side

On the bedside, side tables are a lovely accent. A magnificent pair of lamps, a clock, or whatever else you want to put on top of it can be accommodated. Hot coffee is waiting for you and your visitors to enjoy. Tables can also double as additional storage space for blankets, books, or even board games, depending on your needs.

IDEA 5: Pillowcases

A twin, daybed, or trundle bed skirt is an excellent choice. The skirt will also cover the lower mattress of a trundle. It can also hide the legs of a bed, giving it the look and feel of a couch. It creates a clean and polished finish that is easy to maintain. The skirt can be coordinated with the room's bedding and furnishings, or it can stand alone. Even if you don't need it, you can store things under the bed and hide them.

IDEA 6: Ottomans or Footstools

Using footstools and ottomans in the bedroom is also a good idea to make the bed look more welcoming. When someone wants to lay in the bed, these items can be pushed further out of the way. Anyone can take a break by sitting down and putting their feet up.
