Your privacy is important to us. Here’s a detailed look at information we collect when you browse or shop with us.

What information do we collect?

As you browse our website, certain information is automatically collected, which includes information on your browser, time zone, IP address, and some of the cookies installed on your device. We also collect information about the products you view and how you are using the site, as well as what search terms or other websites brought you to us. This kind of information is called ‘Log Information.’

There are a few different ways that we are able to collect Log Information, including cookies, log files, and a group of electronic files that record information on your session on our website called web beacons, tags, and pixels.

Log files keep track of all actions on the site, which will include information on your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.

This is all recorded automatically. However, when you make a purchase, the information you provide to complete the order such as name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers), email address, and phone number, is also recorded.

Hereafter “Personal Information” refers to both the Log Information and this extra Order Information.

What do we do with this personal information?

We need the order information to fulfill the online orders, such as processing the payment, shipping logistics, providing receipts and confirmations. We also use the information to communicate with you as needed, ensure there is no risk or fraud in our orders, and when appropriate according to the preferences you share with us, share information, advertising, or promotions relating to our products.

The log information helps alert us to any potential fraud (such as suspicious IP addresses). Mostly, it helps us understand how customers are using our site and what we need to improve in user interface and usability, as well as helping us improve our marketing and advertising strategies.

How do we handle consent for data collection?

When you make a purchase and voluntarily provide us with information needed to complete or return an order, including payment and shipping information, we understand that you have consented to our collecting it for the specific purpose of the transaction and this purpose only.

If there is any other reason we would use your personal information, such as marketing, we make sure you have the opportunity to decline.

If you have already chosen to share your information by opting in and you change your mind, you can contact us directly by email or mail and withdraw your consent for further data collection, future contact, and the use or disclosure of your information.

Do we share your personal information?

In order to help us use and process your personal information, some information is shared with third parties. Our online store, for example, is powered by Shopify. Finally, in the case of certain legal issues, such as subpoenas, search warrants, or other lawful requests for our collected information, we would share your personal information in order to protect our rights and comply with any applicable laws or regulations.

As noted, we use your personal information for behavioral advertising purposes, which means providing targeted marketing on social media and other pages. Note that our practices and data collection are not affected when we receive a Do Not Track signal from  your browser, and that we store data from your orders until and unless you ask us to delete the information.

What rights do you have?

Due to the GDRP, European residents have the right to see what personal information we have on you and request it to be updated or removed. If you are a European resident and would like to exercise this right, you may contact us at any point.

Please note that we process your information for the express reason of fulfilling whatever contracts we have with you, such as fulfilling your orders, or other legitimate business transactions.  European residents should be aware that personal information will be used for these purposes outside of Europe, such as Canada or the United States.

All customers should be aware that this policy may be updated as need to reflect changes in policy or practice necessary for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.

This Privacy Policy should be understood to apply only in the context of VillaCotton website and online store and does not affect other privacy agreements in other contexts that may exist between you and us.
